The Federal Service the Oversight of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Communications is a federal agency of executive authority responsible for:

• overseeing the media, including the electronic media, and mass communications, information technology and telecommunications;
• overseeing the compliance of personal information processing with the legislation of the Russian Federation;
• organising the work of the radio-frequency service.
