The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB of Russia) is a federal body of executive authority which exercises, within its terms of reference, State administration of security of the Russian Federation, defence and protection of the state border of the Russian Federation, and protection of inland sea waters, the territorial sea, the exclusive economic zone, and the continental shelf of the Russian Federation and their natural resources; ensures the informational security of the Russian Federation and directly realises the main lines of activity of bodies of the federal security service as defined by the legislation of the Russian Federation; and also coordinates the counter-intelligence activities of the federal bodies of executive authority which have the right to conduct them.
