PRESS RELEASE*

The Presidium of the Government of the Russian Federation at its meeting on September 22, 2008 made the following decisions on the issues on its agenda.

1.On the Government Commission for the development of the power sector
The Presidium of the Russian Government approved the draft decree on the said issue.

2.On granting subsidies to the budgets of the Kamchatka Territory and the Chita Region as part of measures to balance the budgets of the Russian regions

The meeting approved the draft executive order of the Government of the Russian Federation on the said issue.

3.On the participation of the Russian Federation, jointly with the World Bank and the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development, in the programme to assess and enhance the financial literacy of the population and on making a voluntary contribution to the Programme's trust fund in 2008-2011.
The Presidium of the Government of the Russian Federation approved a draft executive order on the said issue.

4.On presenting to the President of the Russian Federation for the purpose of submitting for ratification the Agreement on the Procedure of Organizing and Conducting Joint Anti-Terrorist Actions on the Territories of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States signed in Shanghai on June 15, 2006.
The meeting adopted a draft decree of the Government of the Russian Federation on the said issue.

5.On presenting to the President of the Russian Federation a proposal to sign the Council of Europe Convention on Laundering, Search, Seizure and Confiscation of Proceeds from Crime and the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism
The Presidium of the Government of the Russian Federation adopted a draft decree on the said issue.

6.On signing the Agreement Between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Korea on Simplifying the Procedure of the Issue of Visas and Mutual Short Trips by Citizens
The meeting adopted a draft executive order of the Government of the Russian Federation on the said issue.

7.On signing the Protocol to Introduce Amendments to the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the Specifics of the Regulation of the Activities of Railway Transport Enterprises, Institutions and Organizations of October 18, 1996.
The Presidium of the Government of the Russian Federation adopted a draft executive order on the said issue.

8. On introducing an amendment to the Statute of the Federal Consumer Rights and Human Well-Being Supervisory Service
The meeting passed a draft decree of the Government of the Russian Federation on the said issue.
